Electronic Fouling Control utilises advanced ultrasonic antifouling technology to create an effective and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional marine antifouling.

How it works

EFC, also known as ultrasonic antifouling is an antifouling system that uses pulses of ultrasonic waves to deter microorganisms from attaching themselves to your motorboat or sailboats hull. The removal of these microorganisms is important in the antifouling process as their presence creates a habitat/food source for larger aquatic organisms such as barnacles.

Boats spend the majority of time under the surface and over time this build up of organisms and algae will cause problems to performance. Fouling (the name of this build up) can appear after only a few weeks which is why it is important to be proactive with your boat care.

The ultrasonic frequencies are delivered, to the boat hull through a series of transducers, that are, attached to the inside of the bilge area, meaning no through-hull drilling, is required.

The pulsing ultrasonic waves create areas of negative and positive pressure resulting in micro jets effectively creating an invisible shield around the boat hull, leading to the destruction of the single-cell microorganisms (Algae). Leaving your vessel with a clean hull and no marine growth.

Ultrasonic Antifouling is an Eco-Friendly solution to Marine Fouling

EFC utilises advanced ultrasonic technology, to create an effective and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional marine fouling control. It is easy to install and requires NO thru-hull drilling, it remains the best, most cost effective solution for your boat.

There are no harmful chemicals used or heavy metals which are typically used as biocides in other forms of anti-fauling. This of course eliminates the environmental risks that those methods present such as sea contamination and harm to aquatic life.

24/7 Protection with no loss in performance

Where conventional antifoul will slowly lose effectiveness over time, the ultrasonic transducer technology EFC utilises will continue to work at the same level of optimised power, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Stopping marine growth and helping increase your hull efficiency and maintaining peak performance, and ultimately saving on fuel and maintenance costs.

Save considerable fuel

A hull that doesn’t have the advantage of one of our Electronic Fouling Control systems can use up to 30% more fuel than one that does! This is due to the micro-organisms and algae building up and causing drag underwater. The ultrasonic waves EFC delivers removes this issue, meaning you can maintain a consistent speed with improved manoeuvrability and ultimately, save fuel!

Designed in the UK

All products are UK designed, developed and manufactured. Our kit brochure details the components, safety features and optional extras for each product so you know which is most suitable for your boat. Otherwise our technical support team can answer any questions you might have regarding the system or having it installed.

Marine Growth on hulls

Preventing or keeping Marine growth as minimal as possible is a constant issue on marine vessels. This growth starts as simple microorganisms, in which bacteria attach, forming what’s known as a biological film. This film creates the perfect ecosystem for a myriad of algae, seaweeds, barnacles, muscles and other marine organisms to thrive.

Previous Methods

This is commonly delt with in many ways such as: divers performing hull cleans underwater, or even hauling a vessel out of the water to power wash, clean and apply new paint to the hull. These methods are reactive however, unlike ultrasonic, which is a preventitive method. Many of the antifouling paints contain types of toxins which cause harmful effects to marine life and whilst more are being banned, you know that EFC is an environmentally friendly long term solution, continously helping to protect against such growth. This truly makes Ultrasonic Antifouling a great, cost effective system for managing growth.

Maintenance without an Ultrasonic System Installed

To keep on top of marine growth on a boat hull. Its recommended to haul it out and clean it once a year! Leaving it longer than 12 months can lead to even more costs in the long run. Once a marine growth starts to form on a Hull, it increases the chance of water penetration considerably. This also cases the Hull to be less streamline and will cause performance problems and poor fuel efficiency. With an ultrasonic system installed, its working all the time to keep your hull clean, helping you save some seroious money in the long run.

Cleaning and Painting

Once a hull is fully inspected, repaired and cleaned. It will need repainting. Ablaitve paints are used in most cases with recreational boaters but, this wears off over time.  Hard paints are used in high performance application, keeping drag to a minimum and maintaining performance to power ratios.
